Hi I’m Tanvvi! My journey from the vibrant gatherings of New Delhi, India to my pottery studio here in North America, has been inspiring. My upbringing in a large, diverse family and my extensive travels around the world have undoubtedly enriched my creative spirit, infusing my artwork with a unique sense of artistry and design.Introducing my passion for functional pottery, where the artistry of clay meets the satisfaction of creating something both beautiful and useful. From a young age, pottery has been more than just a craft—it’s been a therapeutic journey, a legacy passed down from my mother, and a professional pursuit guided by the best mentors. As my knowledge and expertise have grown, so has my love for firing in traditional Japanese-style wood kilns, like the anagama, and cross draft Soda kilns. These labor-intensive processes not only produce stunning results but also foster a sense of community and collaboration among artists. The chaotic beauty of atmospheric firings, coupled with the discipline of shaping each form, ensures that every piece carries its own unique story. In the studio, each pot is meticulously crafted with a commitment to beauty, functionality, and longevity. I believe in creating pottery that not only captivates the eye but also stands the test of time, meant to be cherished and used for years to come. With every firing, I strive to capture the vivid colors, dynamic ash patterns, and individuality that make each piece truly one-of-a-kind.Join me on this journey of clay and creativity, where every vessel tells a story and every creation is a testament to the enduring artistry of pottery. My dedication to honing my skills, from formal training at the Delhi Blue Pottery Trust School to learning from exceptional artists in India and here in America, speaks volumes about my commitment to my craft. And the way I have embraced the labor-intensive yet communal process of firing in Japanese-style wood kilns and cross-draft soda kilns is a testament to my adventurous spirit and thirst for creativity.
My family, including my husband and two boys, serve as both my support system and a wellspring of inspiration, & critical analysis for my creations. It’s evident that my love for pottery extends beyond the studio and into every aspect of my life.
As I continue my journey of learning and growth, I have no doubt that my passion for pottery will continue to flourish. And with my creations available on Etsy under @tanvviPottery, I’m sure many others will have the opportunity to experience the beauty and craftsmanship of my work.
My favorite quote by Da Vinci “Learning is the only thing that mind never exhausts, never fears and never regrets” beautifully encapsulates the essence of lifelong learning and the endless possibilities it brings.
